Ergonomic Assessment

Make your workplace a more comfortable fit for you with an ergonomic assessment.

Ergonomics refers to “the science of designing the workplace environment to fit the user” by looking at the interaction between the person, their workplace, and their equipment. Ergonomic assessments are aimed at reducing the risk of injury within the workplace. All workplaces can benefit from an ergonomic workplace assessment.

During an ergonomic assessment, the physiotherapist will assess the environment that the staff work in, as well as the staff themselves. This can include:

  • Desk areas – is there enough room to work?
  • Chairs are adjustable and appropriate for the user, and correct viewing distance to monitor
  • Staff postures
  • Analysis of working duties, e.g. bending, lifting, repetitive movements, etc.
  • Assessment of the tools provided for the job and the appropriateness of them, e.g. kneeling pads, machinery, gloves, uniforms, shoes, headset telephones, etc.
  • Are the staff trained to do their job? e.g. manual handling

Physiotherapists are the ideal professionals to conduct ergonomic assessments as they have knowledge of the biomechanical functions of the body and the effect that different stresses can have on it.

Healing Haven Physiotherapy has qualified physiotherapists who will provide an ergonomic assessment and a report listing the appropriate recommendations.
